  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My main role at Premier Foods is to monitor the packaging of our sweet treats. This is to ensure we are reducing waste. We also help to approve artworks, update weights and materials needed for the products.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so much while at Premier, for example how to talk with suppliers and able to understand a consumers needs. Also, learning the importance of packaging and the science going into a singular product. Lastly the main skill I have learnt is confidence, I am quite introverted and this role has given me a boost to give valuable criticism and making a change in the products you look after.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All of the lecturers have tailored our learning to the work places that we are in. They want us to be able to apply our knowledge to our day to day job and are very responsive to emails and queries I have had. I have had a few give less effort towards support, which I hope changes in time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • With all of the theory that they are teaching us. I am personally able to use this at work . We deal with lots of different materials and it is important to understand the properties and benefits to using one over the other and reach a more sustainable product.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have social team events (every 8 weeks) where we get together for team building exercises and talk about what our teams have achieved over the time period we are apart. This allows all packaging over all sites to explain new things that they have achieved or find interesting.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Premier Foods to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Premier foods have presented to me how they want to empower their workers and push us all to our potential. I could make a large list on the benefits of why I would recommend anyone to work here. But to make it short. They make you comfortable enough to be authentically yourself which I feel makes a workplace so interesting and meet a range of new people who are always there to help and support all of us to the same goal.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Premier Foods?
  • Be yourself, I feel like it is the best way to show your uniqueness to a employer. I felt like I was not fit for the role as I dropped out of university during COVID. However they gave me a chance and it is one of the best things that have happened to me.
