I work on placement teams within various units of business for 6 month blocks where I am a full team member helping the team with various tasks they perform or are set. I also attend various meeting not only with the team but with stakeholders and directors as well.
Yes, due to my work being sandwiched with university I have been able to improve skills such as knowledge of the digital world, coding and digital maths on top of this I am able to gain specific knowledge based on my teams area of expertise.,
I find this program highly enjoyable, there is an excellent work life balance where all university work is completed during paid time as well as plenty of time to socialise with fellow apprentices during your university time. All the while a great support system is in place to answer any questions or query's you have.
BAE systems have an excellent structure to their apprenticeships with a 4 year plan to help each apprentices success. including monthly catch ups with a personal skills coach, regular group calls with other apprentices and members of staff that can be used to ask any questions you have
As an employee of BAE systems I receive lots of support not only from an apprentice point of view where a whole team of education staff are available for me to contact with any questions but also I have all the benefits other full time employees have with various support teams available to me
My training provider have many support teams in place that can all be easily accessed remotely as well as lecturers being easily reachable and lots of support articles being made available to you
My qualification is directly linked to my work so all learning and assignments are done through a work lens where we are shown exactly where this knowledge can and is applied in working life. Then the assignments we do are always written with out work in mind and we are marked on how well we can show knowledge of its use in the work environment
I personally haven't joined any extra-curricular activities with work but I get regular communication about opportunities to join and help events
Yes
There is an excellent work life balance and it is the best way to get a degree while learning valuable jobs skills that can excel you past others who take the traditional route. At the same time you can earn a wage and reap the benefits of working for such a large company.
Apply for a role you have a strong interest in, a strong work ethic and large interest go a very long way to showing your character. Remember you are being hired to learn don't worry if your knowledge isn't where you'd hope it is BAE will help to raise your knowledge
