I support the placement team I'm within. I'm involved in various project within the team, at the moment I'm currently created a process map for my team and currently looking at improving the teams impact assessment forms and processes.
I'd say that I have developed loads of new skills and my existing skills. I've learnt to use multiple of the systems that the business uses to a basic standard, such as SAP and Teamcenter. Being within this placement has helped me to develop my communication skills.
I enjoy my programme for the most part, I find the placements and the university work enjoyable. I just feel like sometimes you're a bit caught up in paper work for reviews and wondering when you can squeeze in as many off the job hours in a busy schedule.
I would say from a glance this programme is very organised as you know how many placements you'll have and that you have a review every 3 months and go to university every week. But I feel like at a granular level it can appear disorganised.
I would say we are well supported by the employer. We have reviews every 3 weeks with out skills coach and can contact them and our functional lead at any time with queries.
I feel like the support from the university is good, there are multiple channels you can use to contact them for help. They're in constant contact with our skills coaches and can discuss with them if they're concerned about us.
I feel like the stuff we learn at university provides a good background knowledge to some of the activities we might carry out during our placement. I think if you're in a really specific placement though it can be hard to relate some of the learning with your role.
The local higher apprentice council has put on a few balls. There have been quite a few networking events that you can go to, some include other apprentices from different parts of the country.
Yes
I feel like they're a good company to work for and there are many benefits of becoming an employee. I feel like the company really cares about your development and progression as a person and at work. Everyone is really friendly and helpful.
I would definitely think about the role you are applying for and see how that can apply to everyday life and think of some examples of things you do that already fit into that. I would say be really organised and prepare for any interviews.
