I’m a apprentice and have to travel up to Leicester for my apprenticeship and it’s a 2.30 hour drive it switches between working at home to up here day is always different
Yes I have learned a lot of new skills over my time so far In the apprenticeship especially gas work and pipework have learned a lot of other skills along the way
I enjoy it sometimes it’s just a real hassle travelling up to Leicester and staying up there really effects your whole life and you need to be able to stop your life and do the apprenticeship but it’s a fun program and a nice way to build meaningful connections with people you stay with if you get nice people but the work is really fun
It’s quite a well structured program and it feels like they have put a lot of work out into our learning and is one of the best apprenticeship programs out there
I get a lot of support no matter what it is like when I was sick they let me have time off from the academy and they will help you with anything no matter what and like 1 big team
They will always try and help you pass your tests and will even come in earlier then they have to to try and get you to pass
They’re aren’t really any extra curricular activities at work it’s more what we do in the evenings with the rest of the people from the academy other than the Christmas party’s there isn’t much
Yes
I would recommend it as it’s a smashing apprenticeship and is very good for what you have to learn but it is a very big issue for travailing and if you don’t like going long distance it isn’t for you as there is a lot of travelling involved and staying away from home
Only apply if you can stay away from home for long periods of times and can up rout your life and make sure you have a lot of space in your brain as it’s a lot to take in
