My role as a project manager is to ensure project budgets stay on track as well as time and risk. Daily this can mean addressing issues on site, adjusting to issues and risks as well as dealing with contractors to ensure projects have their desired outcome.
Yes, communication is a vital role and i have built confidence through constant communication and presentations. Excel skills have improved, as well as this my overall knowledge of project management has grown significantly.
It has been good, the support you receive is constant and useful and you never feel like a spare part. The level and frequency of tasks depends on how ready you feel and you are pushed to step out of comfort zone to grow your skills.
Very well structured, everything is in place perfectly and everyone running the programme is more than skilled enough to run the programme effectively.
A lot, you have a buddy and mentor as well as placement managers & line managers all of whom are in frequent contact with you to address any issues and support you.
A good amount, there are reviews and one to ones in place to talk about progress and address issues.
It helps to recap everything you have learnt on the job as well as grow new skills which you can use.
There are so many opportunities at TfL for this, football teams, regular team socials as well as events organised by different committees such as wellbeing walks and forums.

The support you receive is second to none and there is a family feel which is hard to find at such a large organisation. Your work makes a difference to peoples lives and that is a very rewarding feeling.
