Attend college full time for year 1 and for year 2 till 4 go around various disciplines learning different aspects of ship building. After 2 years we get put into a detail design placement.
I have learned many new skills from communication to using high tech equipment including design packages on the computers. The company will pay for you to develop you skills with various training.
The programme is a great career path and is very enjoyable as it develops all your skills and knowledge of the business. There are many things to enjoy from being part of a large company that builds wordclass products to passing the courses at college.
Bae System value all apprenticies and treat you as if you are a mjor part of the buisnnes, they treat you as if you have been working in the company as long as ever other staff member
The programme is well organised and is structured to best help us progress and develop our career. Over the 4 years there is a development plan that we have to reach to progress to the next year.
The training provider will support us if we require help. They give us log books to complete, we have to complete 28 logs a s a miniumum in the 4 years and they look at them and either pass or suggest improvements.
The employer is very supportive they will help you with anything. They dont treat you as an apprentice they treat you like everyone else as you are key to the future of the business.
The salary is very good for an apprentice. Over the 4 years the salary goes up in very large steps it almost doubles form year one to year four.
Their are lots of opportunites outwith work, You can become a Stem Ambassador and help school pupils get interested in Stem subjects. You can aslo help with charity events.

It is a lagre company that has a long term future, They treat apprentices with great respect and are happy to help every apprentice develop, it is also possible to progress to become managers and lead designers.
