As an apprentice architect, my role involves supporting senior architects with design, drafting, and technical documentation. On a day-to-day basis, I assist with creating sketches, and construction drawings, while also conducting site visits and surveys. I collaborate with the team, attend meetings, and help coordinate with consultants and contractors. Additionally, I engage in research to stay updated on building codes and materials, and I assist with project management tasks such as scheduling and permit applications. This role allows me to gain hands-on experience and develop my skills in both creative design and technical execution.
i have learnt lots of new skills such as using multiple CAD systems. i have learnt how each of these websites work and grown to understand them all. additionally i have had a big confidence boost as i have to speak to clients and call them on the phone, which i used to be very scared at. i also have grown big teamwork skills as you are always working in a team.
as a female in a very male dominated industry, it seems like it would be hard to fit in, in reality everyone is so kind and good to you. you learn to really enjoy this job as there is so much more than just the drawing.
very well structured
if i am struggling on something, my boss or collogues will help me. here at Gelder everyone can help you. eg. i had college work to do and had multiple people helping me and showing me how to do the different things.
i get a good amount of support as its in my employers best interest for me to do well
this helps in a good way as there's little things that you sit and get taught in college that you would not think to ask in a work place
there is always big charity events, such as bike rides, fishing matches and Halloween scare walks.
Yes
as ive worked here two years, i think the staff are overwhelmingly friendly and its such a nice work place to be in.
