  • • support clients by organising family visits and answering guest questions • ensure all regulated work, like selling/advising on our funeral plans, is referred to a ‘certified colleague’ • build positive relationships in the local community • hold the fort at the funeral home - lone working • manual handling of coffins and the deceased

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been upskilled into coaching and managing a team / organising and conducting a funeral from start to finish and am fully able to step up into that role - communication / presentations / IT / people skills / industry knowledge / psychology / self personal development / coaching & mentoring skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have devoured every aspect and will continue to self develop afterwards - this has ignited THE deepest passion within me to succeed long into the future and progress both personally and professionally

  • Outstanding - both with Company and Training Provider working hand in hand to provide a fool proof fail safe educational develpement programme

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer, from direct manager up to regional manager and area manager along with the wider team in Manchester - each of them have a part to play in my success - this really is a team/family company

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Outstanding again - fully flexible and supportive of individual learning styles - I passed exams because of their support - genunely cant praise them or my company enough for the support

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Having the training and the knowledge allows me a more business minded head for want of a better word - our work here is high on and in emotion - being able to see and deliver the bigger picture and step into a Funeral Directors shoes has been exponential for our clients

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Support networks / Regular meetings with other apprenices / hands on support from every level of the company / specialised groups for inclusion etc., - outstanding level of commitment to us now and beyond

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • An ethical community based approach to everything - continually investing in their people - the business and their communities. Coop has been longstanding and is going from strength to strength - My second main career and by far the best decision I EVER made


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Be yourself - trust in your vision - know that gender - ethnicity - educational background - none of it will be a stopper to a career at the coop - Believe in yourself - don't shy from telling them just how incredible you are and how far you want to go
