  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My responsibilities include managing the incident command suite, managing the LMS system. Creating incident command scenarios, facilitating XVR for Incident command scenarios. Driver training admin. On a day to day basis I answer emails and phone, I interact internally with driver training, the incident command trainers, firefighters control and IT. This allows me to schedule driver training for firefighters, create XVR Scenarios for incident command training and manage the computers within the incident command suite. Externally I Communicate with the learnpro group and other fire services to assist with the project I am currently working updating the equipment in the incident command suite.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed time management, communication and presentation skills. I have learned new leadership skills such as conflict management, coaching and stake holder mapping.

  • I find my programme really enjoyable it was a great way to get back in to learning, it is challenging and motivating and it is effectively building my confidence

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised and structured, from the start I was given a plan of workshops and deadlines with clear expectations and signpost to learning. The workshops are well structured and informative and what is learned can be applied effectively to my job role. The online learning system allows me to manage my deadlines and shows visual representation of where I am with my progress

  • I am given the sufficient amount of support to complete my work and assistance is always given when asked

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider offers lots of support assisting me with my PDP and pointing me in the direction of effective sources and information in areas I am struggling in. Feed back on work is thorough and often sign post me to podcasts and learning I may find interesting or helpful in developing my skills further

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has improved my time management skills allowing me to prioritise effectively. It has also increased my knowledge greatly on stakeholder management and influencing skills communication skills and conflict management which has really helped drive forward the project I am working with IT

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are often social event to network with other teams and opportunities to attend professional networking events and I have attended different event associated with my role where I have had the opportunity to speak to other services
