Writing software requirements, designs, implementation, testing and maintenance. I often find myself working on an existing codebase, updating the specification in accordance to set requirements. Most of my work is related to aircraft systems.

My training provider teach a broad range of skills in systems analysis, cyber security, programming, testing and much more. Software engineering is much more than just programming, the skill ceiling is infinite.

Yes
I enjoy my role and have a good work-life balance. I don't have to worry about going into debt, paying for a university course as my employer covers all of the costs. There is no requirement for overtime on the apprenticeship and placement managers often let you take your time to research and complete work, providing guidance when something can be improved. The atmosphere is very friendly and professional.
Research the company, what we do and find out about projects you might be interested in. Always put your best into the entire recruitment process, and most importantly, research the job role you are applying for and ensure that aligns with the career you desire.
