  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Loan Administrator Running various reconcilliations and reports, as well as settling trades. Interacting within my own team as well as teams around me, and analysts downstairs. Dealing with agents and banks who may be involved with trades I am settling. Ensuring each report/rec which is allocated to me is completed within the deadline, and the same with settling trades.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am working towards the CISI - Introduction to Securities and Investments qualification. There are many internal and external traing opportunities for me, for example I have an advanced Excel training course booked in a couple of weeks. The experience of working alongside many different people, in various teams and with various experiences is extremely beneficial for gettting accustomed to working life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The company culture and the people ive met in the company have been brilliant, I couldn't have asked for any better. The general atmosphere of the company is great alongside the social aspects of it. My team are extremely friendly and have helped me settle into my new role easily.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by M&G?
  • I feel as tho i have become part of the team, as i have been given more responsibilities and jobs to do, I do feel more valued, and that i am making more of a contribution.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • So far the programme has been structured well, and is quite flexible to fit in around my work. There have been a few problems in my first couple of months, a tutor left the organisation and there hacve been a couple of technical issues, but otherwise it has been fine.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have only just started my apprenticeship recently, but in the last couple of months i have met my tutor and we have arranged our next couple of meetings, and she is easily available via email or telephone.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from day-to-day work with my team, to my almost weekly meetings with my manager for feedback and updates, as well as a monthly meeting with HR to see how i'm doing

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • for a first year and earn as you learn scheme i beleive the salary is very fair and covers my costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are often company events, many sporting and social events, as well as even offering up to 2 days off work to do charity work.

  • Yes

  • The culture and people within the organisation make the working environment comfortable and relaxed, and offers many social oppurtunites, as well as many oppurtunities to progress your career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • I imagine the competition will be high for an apprenticeship at M&G, and the oppurtunity is a very good one, so just be as prepared as you can for the interview/tests so you take your oppurtunity. And try and stay relaxed in an interview and let your personality come through, and show you will fit in with the M&G culture.
