Finance apprentice, I provide support within the Fixed income business unit. I work in team of 6, day to day we analyse differnt funds and how they are performing, making changes and reporting to the CEO. As an appretnice they give you lots of opportunities to expand your knowledge and you always have the opportunity to get enough work.
I am currently developing my Microsoft excel skills as most day to day work is done on spreadsheets, There are also opportunities to partake in internal qualifications to better yourself if need be.
I love the idea of the apprenticeship program in general and M&G pull this program off perfectly, we are put in a supporting team who are all open to questions if you are confused, weekly having team meetings and catch-ups to make sure you understand everything.
You immediately feel welcome at M&G from all the employee's, welcoming you and putting you mind at ease by allowing oyu to ask as many questions as you like, having weekly one to one meetings with my manager, assesing your progress, the manager really gives you the support and congratulates you on completed jobs.
Very organised, I have an assesor who I can constantly be in contact with if I have any questions about the course I am studying. We are all enrolled online through Kaplan, we have a personal log in and ID refference number, we are all in the loop with what is happening through communication through HR and Kaplan.
You are able to have as much contact with the training provider as you like, you have an area assessor, who you are able to ask questions to aswel as contacting you actual tutor.
Ample amount of support from M&G, any questions you can basically ask anyone and they will refer you to who you need to talk to, HR are extremely helpful likewise anyone in your team, business unit or floor.
Perfectly, commuting to London along with rent is the most expensive, other than that you have enough money (considering you are still young and studying) to live well, not to mention you dont have a loan to re-pay to universities.
There is a social group we are all able to get info regarding social events, parties, musicals and concerts, we are all kept in the loop about any external events hekd by M&G and how to attend/apply
Yes
Its a real opportunity to work for a company that is constantly expanding, you feel welcome as an employee and the working life in London is great to experience.
If you are genuinely excited to join M&G, go for it, do the best you can in the interviews and let the interviewer know everything you want them to know about you, express your excitment to work at a great company, the experience and opportunities are great. Think logically and you will be fine going forward.
