Typical day involves working on various projects/products for the team, incorporating all elements of the software lifecycle (i.e. requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing). Lots of opportunities to liaise with customers and grow network.
I had limited coding skills before I joined the apprenticeship, which I have been supported in developing alongside my knowledge and practical engineering skills.
Great experience, thoroughly enjoyed being able to work and learn simultaneously. Constantly being thrown new challenges to test and stretch me as an engineer and professional which is very rewarding. Workload alongside University can be tough but certainly worth it for the experience & qualifications gained.
Very well structured to ensure that key learning objectives are covered and learning continues throughout the scheme in line with key programme dates, e.g. EPA gateway. Weekly split of work/university works well.
Lots of support, ranging from skills coaches for skills & development, to team-support.
Good level of support generally, some teething issues along the way, however these have generally been resolved before becoming critical. Overall training provider experience has been positive.
Lots of theory/concept which can feed into improvement of engineering frameworks/processes when working on projects at work.
There are many social/networking groups, particularly within the early careers community. Additionally, events take place frequently which require support or participation of apprentices/graduates.
