  • As a team Manager I have a very varied role, supporting the customer assistance, managing service to customers, Duty manager for the shop, working with central office teams, recruiting, partner managment

  • I have become more aware of different methods of managing a team and leading a team, carrying out 1-1 conversation, developed active listening

  • It was a challenge but made me more aware of myself as a manager and provided resources and tools to support my role

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It suited me, as I have regular catch ups with my mentor and apprenticeship support mentor. Modules help focus the work and written pieces helped to assimilate the information

  • My employer suggested the apprenticeship and my manager supported me with regular meetings and catch ups

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • regular meetings, catch ups and email contact when needed was helpful, they would reply to emails and organise vc if necessary. Built a good relationship which helped

  • I think it was a useful introduction to tools and systems to aid my everyday role, made me realise that its never too late to learn new things

  • yes, varied opportunities for activities from crafting to parenting

  • Research what the company stands for and understand partnership, John Lewis is unlike other workplaces as the partners have influence over the direction of the company, we have a democratic voice.
