  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a store apprentice at Aldi. In my first year of the store management apprenticeship, I am being trained as a store assistant. This includes, understanding the different tasks needed to be complete. Examples of this include, working delivery, refilling stock, serving customers, date checking, reporting issues to a manager and more. I also am given a few hours, every week, to complete my learning as an apprentice, on Aptem, where I complete tasks and communicate with my learning coach.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I quite enjoy my programme. I learn different skills on and off the job role and am eager to learn more and improve my performance.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is quite well structured. The shifts are available for weeks ahead, so you are aware with what shift your working. I know who I can communicate with, if there is an issue. There is information available in the staff room and offices about what should and should not be done, for example we should not walk past an offsale and fill it with stock, there and then. This is a well informed organisation.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employers do let me know that I can communicate with them. I have their contact details on the apprenticeship app and if I need support with a task, they are willing to help me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is easily accessible, as I can message them on the apprenticeship app. We have meetings every few months, and can discuss my performance and any support I need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification does help to perform better in my role, because it relates to the tasks I complete. For example one of my modules was based on customer service and their needs and expectations, which are important because we need to keep them satisfied to ensure loyalty.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I discussed this with my area manager and she is looking into allowing the apprentices in this region to communicate with each other and we have the same roles and experiences, which will hopefully allow us to support each other.

    5/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I believe the experience is valuable. This is because you learn different skills and responsibilities, which allows you to grow and this is transferable.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • To be honest with the application, because you will need to learn the roles and responsibilities anyway, so there will be support available.
