  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Undertaking a variety of electrical work in various locations alongside a team of well established electricians. Work can be on new installations as well as older ones too. Most common work is power, lighting, data and containment installations as well as any relevant electrical testing and certification to go alongside it.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working for Wisbech Electrical, my skill level has greatly improved as well as the variety of work I’ve been able to undertake. My knowledge and understanding of the job has developed as well and I’ve received much support and help with my development from my colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an apprentice at the company and felt supported throughout my whole apprenticeship. Even after completing my apprenticeship I still have been supported and enjoy my job to the same if not a greater level. The other electricians and management team are more than happy to help and support too.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is well structured with clear guidelines of work that need to be completed and by what dates too. The program is completed in an organised manner as not to be confusing and each step advancing in a logical way from the previous one.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I’ve received lots of support from my employer throughout the apprenticeship. I had one to one time with them and also the opportunity to focus on areas I was not especially strong on to make sure I was capable and comfortable to undertake those kind of jobs. This proved to be especially helpful when it came to exams being allowed the time to practice certain elements I struggled with.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When I was working with my training provided I received great amounts of support. I was given timescales and consistent feedback on how I was doing with the course and what I would need to do to advance to the next level.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the training from the provider is greatly helpful towards my performance in my role, however on site experience is equally if not more important as it is in a real life scenario and not a fabricated one.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Work often hosts social events to catch up as part of a team and to get to know the workforce. This is a helpful resource for when you are new to the workforce and getting to know colleagues.

  • Yes
