  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During my apprenticeship I have around 6 placements that are 6 monthly intervals so tasks vary depending where I am. Presently in my placement now my tasks are looking through requisition forms, helping create an FAQ Form for education purposes and helping my team with queries and projects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my programme and the fact I am able to try different placements and see the different areas of HR. However I wish we had an option to pick a couple as theres some I will be disappointed I didn't get to try. I think it would have been beneficial for our final two to decide where we wanted to go before the last one where we want to specialise as at that point we will have learned what our strengths and weaknesses are.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think it could have been more organised in the sense that it felt very all over the place where we were going, if we had to do level 7 or not as in our contract only level 3 and 5 were stated as requirements. I think it could have been more structured.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like it has helped us a lot however I am more of a learn on the job person anyway so I feel I would still be at the same standard as I am now with or without the qualification. I feel like my job has made it better for me to pass the qualification, rather than the qualification help me better at the job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Theres a lot of networking events and social activities to get involved

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because its a good place to build your career, whatever your ambitions are there is something for everyone. It is financially stable and good for anyone wanting to raise a family due to that and also flexible working. The benefits are good and if you get into an area you really enjoy, coming to work can be really happy. You can move around the company more than anywhere I have ever known and theres always development training available.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Try to not get too concerned about being amazing straight away, sometimes some placements may not suit you and that doesnt mean you dont belong in BAE, it just means that particular area may not suit you or you may need more support or more time to develop.
