  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Raising RFQ's/Purchase Orders, as well as assisting day to day tasks such as invoicing, logistics that come as a result of this. I also travel, do STRETCH projects, study for my CIPS exams and assist in negotiation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt countless skills within the procurement role, and have ticked off 12 "CIPS Skills". On top of this, my confidence and independence has skyrocketed since I started this apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy it. the work/life balance is great, there are so many amazing perks and I enjoy the variety of work we do and the opportunities we get. I have also made so many good friends.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's pretty well structured, we change placements every 6 months to give us as much skills/experience as possible and really work out where the best fit for us is in the company, so you aren't stuck doing something you do not enjoy.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get given plenty of support for all work related things, as well as constant wellbeing checks. On top of this, I have never had an issue being given enough time to study for my exams and I am always supported with my work

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are required to get 20% of our hours per week to study for our qualifications and this has never been a problem under any manager. All of them have allocated me extra time when exams have been coming up too which is really helpful/nice

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me gain a better understanding of the correct processes and terminology which we use on a day to day basis and this transfers over into my day to day work. Since i started revising and passing exams, my work has gotten much better

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many different social activity groups for things such as sports (football, badminton) etc, and on top of this events are regularly planned (meals, bowling, pub trips etc)

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It has many great benefits and provides many good opportunities. The pay is good and the work is enjoyable. On top of this, everyone is incredibly nice, supportive, professional and trustworthy. The role is also very interesting with what we do.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • If you are considering applying - do it. I have loved every minute of my apprenticeship. If you do get the role, make sure to network as much as possible and take as many opportunities as you can as they are so beneficial and also very enjoyable.
