  • i am in my second year of my apprenticeship and i am now on aircraft gaining experience

  • i have learnt alot of handskills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i love being on base and around military aircraft, but i find that management at the academy can ruin my experience purely through their lack of organisation

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the on base staff have been excellent but the academy were extremely unorganised and unproffesional as they moved us to our placements without telling us there was a shortage of room and some of us woul dbe placed in off aircraft jobs.

  • the well being staff are excellent

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • my assessor is excellent with aiding me with my NVQ

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • i simply would be unable to do my role without the previous learning and qualifications i have done before i came onto base

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there is very limited access to this in the first year but when i moved onto base i was able to join an array of RAF clubs and activities

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because despite the poor management and unorganisation this is a brilliant apprenticeship to do as it gives you a once in a lifetime gateway into the world of aviation and for that i am grateful to BAE for this opportunity.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • i would say be prepared to learn as the first year is heavily academic and have an interest in aircraft and do not be motivated to join for the financial benefits
