i am in my second year of my apprenticeship and i am now on aircraft gaining experience
i have learnt alot of handskills
i love being on base and around military aircraft, but i find that management at the academy can ruin my experience purely through their lack of organisation
the on base staff have been excellent but the academy were extremely unorganised and unproffesional as they moved us to our placements without telling us there was a shortage of room and some of us woul dbe placed in off aircraft jobs.
the well being staff are excellent
my assessor is excellent with aiding me with my NVQ
i simply would be unable to do my role without the previous learning and qualifications i have done before i came onto base
there is very limited access to this in the first year but when i moved onto base i was able to join an array of RAF clubs and activities
Yes
because despite the poor management and unorganisation this is a brilliant apprenticeship to do as it gives you a once in a lifetime gateway into the world of aviation and for that i am grateful to BAE for this opportunity.
i would say be prepared to learn as the first year is heavily academic and have an interest in aircraft and do not be motivated to join for the financial benefits
