My role is a HR apprentice. I am part of the everyday HR admin tasks, as well as learning the processes of what we do in terms of benefits and wellbeing within HR
Within my time at ASSA ABLOY, I have had the opportunity to develop my pre-existing skills and make them stronger, whilst simultaneously picking up new skills along the way. These have all contributed to my personal and professional development and are beneficial to my growth.
. My time at ASSA ABLOY so far has enabled me to develop my confidence, teamwork and curiosity whilst simultaneously developing my practical skills and exposing me to new softwares and IT systems, as well as developing my IT knowledge. Whilst my apprenticeship journey is still in the early stages, everything that I have learned over the past 5 months has been both valuable and engaging, and I am excited for what new skills and opportunities the future holds!
My programme is structured so that I am gaining lots of workplace experience, whilst also enabling enough time to commit to college work and studying. This means that I am able to complete college work, amongst all of my other daily tasks and work. I have regular catch up's with my manager to ensure I have all of the support I need.
As part of a large team, I have lots of resources around me that mean that I have enough support. My manager has regular catch-ups with me, ensuring all is ok and to answer any questions. Although I know that all other members of my team are there to support whenever I need.
I meet with my assessor every 5 weeks and have the opportunity to catch up with him regarding all of my college work. I recieve a reasonable amount of support from the college itself, however could be more surrounding the independent study.
Having a background knowledge of business admin helps within HR as it provides an idea of what needs to be done in order to continue as a successful business. This way, I am able to enforce this within HR.
There are many opportunities available, especially as we have many sites across the UK, there are opportunities to visit these and to network out to others in different roles in different areas.
