As an Apprentice, my day-to-day role involves supporting various tasks. I collaborate closely with my team to learn and contribute to projects, gaining valuable experience and skills in my field. We rotate every six months, making day-to-days varied and constantly different depending on the team.
I have mastered a wide range of Microsoft skills and explored new programs previously unfamiliar to me. My data analysis, presentation, and interpersonal skills have significantly improved. Additionally, my organizational abilities and time management have got much better. I feel comfortable speaking to everyone at the company, regardless of seniority.
I enjoy the programme a lot, I have had a lot of different experiences and even managed to travel to different countries and across the UK. The work is more enjoyable than the university, however the entire programme is fun.
The programme at Visa is well-structured, with the early careers team ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Concerns are addressed promptly, and we have regular catch-ups and updates to ensure everything is on track. While the university's organisation around dates and timelines could be improved, it's understandable as we are the first cohort, so some teething issues are expected.
I receive plenty of support from Visa, clearly demonstrating that my development and growth are a priority. Weekly catch-ups and monthly development plan updates are just some of the ways we are supported. Issues are swiftly dealt with, making me feel heard and valued.
The support is good however sometimes confusing and contradicts itself. That being said, overall it is really helpful when the assignments come around, with study sessions and availability for calls with your skills coach to assist in any area you struggle.
I do think the qualification helps me perform better, as I learn practically and theoretically at the same time. I can apply my learnings and ensure I manage people and situations correctly. It will also greatly help my future development when I finish, with 4 years experience and a degree.
There are countless activities to get involved with if you wish. We have many different groups to join, (such as football, run club, gaming and young professionals) as well as socials with various teams and many opportunities with clients. There are also opportunities around the office to network with various people you would not ordinarily interact with.
Yes
Quite simply, it is a great company with excellent benefits and opportunities. The work I do I really enjoy and everyone appreciates what you do. The job prospects are great and I have been able to experience so many different things and learn countless different skills.
I would say ensure you do some research on the company, know your stuff. Make sure that you have life experiences to apply to questions and that you can talk comfortably without being asked to expand. Ensure you ask a couple of questions, but most importantly, be yourself. People can tell who is genuine and who isn't, so make sure you let the interviewer know who you really are.
