I work in the early stages of drug discovery, predominantly in an laboratory setting. I have worked in molecular biology, which involves cloning and DNA scale-up. I have also worked with cell culture, and various expression systems. Finally I have carried out work in protein purification and various QC.
I have learnt a lot of new skills since the start of my apprenticeship, both in and out of the laboratory. These include time management and independence.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as an apprentice at GSK, the environment is positive and productive. Everyone is extremely happy to lend a helping hand and it is a great environment to develop oneself.
My programme is well structured and I have always got the support I've needed.
I have always been provided with the support I require over the course of my apprenticeship.
The training provider has not always provided all the support needed when it comes to the university side of the apprenticeship; there is often a lack of communication or delayed communication.
I feel I have learnt a lot more (skills and knowledge) from my employer compared to my training provider.
GSK is really great for morning, lunchtime and evening events. These include various sporting activities as there is a fitness centre on site, as well as various mental health events such as walks and crochet.
Yes
I think GSK is a great company to work for.
