My role consists of supporting Auto Traders clients (car dealerships) with their automotive advertising and sales. It is a combination of sales and business consultancy to ensure our clients are getting the best ROI possible with us. After completing my 18-month apprenticeship, I went on to support our new retailers. After 12 months I had been promoted to an Account Manager, supporting our small/medium sized retailers
Throughout my journey as an apprentice and now as a qualified Account Manager, I have developed many skills which are still growing. I have learnt excellent communication skills within the company and with external stakeholders. Team Building relationships were established throughout the apprenticeship program while doing various projects across the business, collaborating with other apprentices and graduates in different business areas .
I really enjoyed the apprenticeship programme with Auo Trader. The balance was perfect with on the job learning as well as having ample time to complete my course work. The projects during the apprenticeship program teach you a lot of soft skills, while the placements within the job role had taught me more technical skills relevant to the role.
Being amongst the first cohort of the Sales apprentices, it was a learning journey for us and the business. There was a structure set in place, allowing me to work in different teams and learn about what consists on our role. It may not have been perfect, but what I enjoyed was the open feedback and support we provided to our managers and the early careers team, allowing us to shape an excellent program that the current and an future apprentices will be able to embark on
The support at Auto Trader is exceptional. All the colleagues are supportive and are willing to give a helping hand at any moment. The managers are supportive, ensuring you get the support needed and always pointing you in the right direction if needed. No question was a silly question and they create a comfortable environment
The support from out training provider was amazing. Suzanna (from DBC) was extremely supportive. We would have monthly catch-ups with her to support us with the month's topic and coursework set for the program. She was always easy to contact when needed support, provided honest advice (and the sweet treats she would bring for us were a bonus).
The qualification received helped create the stepping stones for a promising career. Though I would feel more confident having the option for a degree after completing my Level 4 (which I would still be open to doing), it is helpful. The qualification allows you to truly understand each areas of the job role and recap your learnings, but majority of the learning is done from the job in itself.
There are lots of extra curricular activities to be involved in. Throughout the apprenticeship program, there are early career projects that we get involved in, which are fun and learn a great deal around collaboration and how it drives success. The residential area allows you to meet and speak with new colleagues starting the business, creating a comfortable space and easily make new friends. There is lots of social events that go on within the business, specific clubs for those who have particular interests (sports, and for those car enthusiasts there is a car club, f1 club and go karting club).
