  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I support the children in learning, safeguarding and personal care. As an important part of my learning I have to understand how the children learn and develop. Planning activities that are achievable and beneficial for them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to learn a lot of new theories and knowledge from my online learning. Which I can then try to adapt to using in my workplace

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is something that I want to learn about and I have an interest in. The course could have more distinct guidelines when it comes to projects

    8/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It has been a little challenging as I have been the first cohort for the new system. But otherwise the system they have developed is great and I’m sure will run smoothly now they’re all familiar with it.

    8/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I can speak to other apprentices that have more or common knowledge about what we are learning. Otherwise I find support minimal

    4/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider is always on the other side of the phone or an email away in terms of support. If I am struggling with something I can just ask questions and they’ll be answered.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the knowledge that I am provided is very good and helps me to perform well, however I find that some of the knowledge isn’t easily transferable.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We tend to arrange between us to gather for celebrations like birthdays and hen dos. It can be good to get to know your work colleagues outside of work

    8/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Precious Little Smiles Day Nursery to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • The nursery is run a little differently in terms of mixed rooms, key children and structure which can make it difficult to be able to transfer knowledge from the teaching days. More support would be helpful to be able to stay on track.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Precious Little Smiles Day Nursery?
  • Doing an apprenticeship is definitely the best way to gain this kind of qualification.
