  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I'm the HR Admin at Poundland Harlow DC. Within my role, I schedule meetings relating to our policies (attendance, performance, investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, etc), but also, filling out the main HR tracker to keep accurate data about the business and our employees. I'm in contact everyday with managers and employees, giving support when needed. But also supporting the HR People Advisor and the HR Manager.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When I've got the role, I did not have any HR experience, so I've learning a lot within the HR department. I've learing about the legal requirements, our policies, how to handle difficult situations, challenge managers. I'm involve mostly managing absence (sick, long term, maternity, paternity).

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It has been an amazing journey!!! I love it! :D my tutor is the best, the support given by the institute, the subjects... I can't complaint! I'm learning a lot!

  • It is well structured, the organisation is all right.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received 100% support from my employer. Any time I need something related to my apprenticeship, I had received the expected support and beyond.

  • They have been very supportive. I can't complaint.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has been helpful in the way that I'm already applying the knowledge in my day to day in my HR admin role at Poundland. I can see how much I improved my HR skills and behaviors.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No at the moment, but I will love to join if any in the future.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • As a store, is really nice, it has a big range of products and good prices. As a company, the same, I would recommend Poundland as a place to work. Very supportive company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Poundland?
  • Poundland it is a very nice place to learn. I believe, for the nature of the business, its a fast pace environment, challenging and for sure you will learn how to deal with the day to day issues within the business.
