My day to day life consists of working with my cloud team to solve tickets that come into our queue with related IT problems. If not solving problems we provision resources for our customers depending what they need. I also do my set work that is sent to me by QA to help me with the more technical side of things.
I have learnt lots of new skills and developed many others, some of the main ones I have developed are time keeping, communication, self learning, adaptability and problem solving to name a few. Some of the technical skills I have learnt consist of cybersecurity, AWS, Azure and some programming like linux and bash.
I love my apprenticeship because I feel that I am being taught through lectures and materials and I can put this into practice through my job with Capgemini. I think the balance between the two creates a really healthy balance to succeed efficiently.
The programme is structured very well, we have a mini break down of 4 separate activities to learn through out the year and within these activities it is broken down into online course, live session and a workplace assignment. This allows for me to do my self learning with my online course and understand the basics, then I can go into my live sessions with any queries and be able to fully understand what I have been learning and then finally I can prove I understand it by doing my assignment and linking it back to my day to day work life.
I receive great support from my employer, I have support everyday from my POD where if I have any problems I can speak about the matter in the daily stand up and they will help best they can. If they can't help with the problem I am able to speak to my apprenticeship manager who will try there best to solve the issue and finally if they can't they can raise this to there managers to try and solve the matter.
QA have been great especially my DLC [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], she has given me lots of pointers and starters when dealing with my workplace assignments, this made it a lot easier in understanding what is actually been asked of the question and making sure I answer all parts of it.
Coming from a non-technical background I feel that the qualification I am doing really helps me to understand the basics and build a solid foundation to which I can build on through working with my POD in Capgemini. I feel that it helps you understand all the technical things and realise what it means when shadowing someone from your work put it in to practice.
No not really, there is ample opportunity for the activities however due to everyone's location through my pod and work being nationwide it is sometimes hard to get people who are close together to set up a social and start some activities.
Yes
Capgemini has a really inclusive culture and everyone is really friendly, they have helped me so far with every hurdle that has come my way and pay very well for the role that you are doing. They are great with career progression as well setting clear goals out for you every year of the apprenticeship to progress to the next grade and get a promotion. Great work life balance and the main thing is they understand every one is just human so they are caring and thoughtful, one of the only companies I have worked at where they follow there 7 values: Honesty, Boldness, Trust, Freedom, Fun, Modesty and Team Spirit.
Definitely apply it will be one of the best choices you make, one piece of advice I would give is be honest and upfront, if you don't know something just tell them don't pretend you know it and then get caught out. Capgemini want more of a can do attitude and someone who is willing to learn rather than someone who thinks they know it all but actually doesn't.
