  • Managing a team of employment and egnagement officers, providing employmetn and skills services to resdients, working with employers, higher level maangers to generate vacacnies, skills for the future, legacy planning

  • professional coaching, of headteachers, senior leadership team, now part of public sector coaching pool. Coaching other local authority employees/NHS with career development

  • Like working with different sectors and levels of employee, being challenged by tutors and understanding importance of return on investment in public sector

  • programme was delivered virtually due to COVID restrictions being slowly lifted. Was interactive to stretch skills and abilities. Tutors had wealth of experience and qualifications

  • I'm self driven however the employer allowed the space and time to achieve and supported me with the skills gaps

  • High turnover of assessors, however structure of programme and content was good

  • Developed to be an internal coach in a coaching pool, progressed on to West Midlands/Public sector coaching pool

  • We have a wellbeing hub with a wealth of opportunities that you can engage with outside of work, including access to an app which signposts you to local events and sessions

  • Yes

  • Career Development, ability to share creative ideas, work with public helping to support local residents, creating programmes for the unemployed, having the opportunity to share good practice and outcomes.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council?
  • An apprenticeship is a great way to gain an entry to Sandwell council. Take on board all of the training opportunities and knowledge that you can, and drive yourself to take advantage to get the career outcome you want.
