  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role is as a sewing machine apprentice, day-day I sewed on production sewing the seats. as part of my training we do placements currently I am exploring a more office based role to gain a varied understanding of different job roles with the workplace. The training for this apprenticeship is given by Chichester college group, I am currently on a level 2 manufacturing course. Throughout this apprenticeship I have gained an understanding of 5S, TPS, PPE requirements etc which are all very helpful in the workplace. Within my apprenticeship there has always been constant support and everything necessary is communicated professionally

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of different skills, for example 5s, toyota production system, PPE in the workplace, electric vehicle safety and how it works etc, Sewing, manufacturing standards, i feel as though it really widens your skillset and all information learned in useful both inside and outside the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I feel as though this experience has been enjoyable, I have learnt a variety of different skillsets, everything is all very informative and interesting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation of this apprentice is well-managed, nothing is confusing, there is a solid structure to how everything will run which allows you to relax and focus on the skills and learning of the apprenticeship rather than thinking "what's next"

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always feel very supported by my workplace, everybody gives you 100% effort which is nice, you are never left feeling like you can't turn to anyone with issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is always lots of support from the training provider, if you are confused about anything they will always try their best to help and everything is taught with a very positive attiude

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as though the information learned within the qualification is useful within my job role, it gives me more confidence when working with things too as I already have a background learning what I'm working with.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • School events, this is giving talks to secondary schools for example, this is to give students an insight to our apprenticeship and also promote the work we do here
