  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Managing my team on a daily basis to maximise Sales and Customer service along with business compliance via audits and delivering the company directive and KPI's set . Coaching and leading by example is a key area in my role via various means be it Verbal communication , training material and utilising my colleagues potential and understanding by gaining clarification from my team. The role is very much focused on myself enabling my team to work with confidence to do their role in what ever capacity that may be .

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The biggest skill I feel has had a biggest impact would be the behavioural . How as a manager we act and behave with our team and our customers in a positive and engaging manner. Tough conversations how not to make them confrontational and base everything on facts , clarifying understanding by listening to my team . Have an approachable attitude so my team can feel confident they can speak up without ramifications in a open forum or private office enviroment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I found the programme tough to start with being an older candidate 51 years old when started the course . However with encouragement from my mentors my family I gave myself focus to complete the apprenticeship. For me it was the going back to school mentality and with my retail knowledge why do i need to to it. Now I look back and happy/proud of the achievement and the knowledge gained has most definitely improved my confidence and my career opportunities at 50+ years of age.
