As a practitioner at asquiths I am required to help maintain a safe, hygenic child stimulated play area for all the children we care for on a day to day basis, the environment needs to be educational and requires the practitioners to meet the developmental needs of each child within our care. As a practitioner working with children I am expected to be organised, a good team player and proffesssional within the workforce. Aspects like being supportive, creative and organised are key to maintaining a high level of care for the children.
Whilst working with Asquiths I have become more confident verbally and find that I am more willing to try new things because I have gained the knowledge to do so. The way i work has become more structured and have found a new love In working with children through messy creative play.
I enjoy my programme since I have always had a drive and love for children to eventually be working with them one day on an everyday basis. However, working whilst studying can be extremely exhausting this is why I had to reduce my hours with asquiths since I was falling behind quite badly with my college work.
I feel that staff members could get praised and noticed a little bit more for all the hard work the staff members put in to keep the nurserys running smoothly. I do sometimes feel that the work nursery practitioners put in don't get noticed and appreciated enough. However, asquiths are always offering opportunities to be better practitioners by sending us on training courses for Asquiths.
My programme is rather structured I meet with my tutor on a regular basis to keep check on my progress within my studies and am supported when extra guidance is needed to complete something.
My training provider is excellent they are always there with support and guidance and are always hands on in trying to find a solution to your problem when Im not sure. I am able to contact my training provider during their working hours through email or through mobile and with my personal assessor 24/7.
I recieve a lot of support within my room in the nursery that I work at, the qualified staff members that i work with on a day to day basis are always willing to support me and guide me through things that I may be unsure about. If I can't find the answer within my room I will then go ask management.
As a practitioner working with children unqualified my salary meets my costs to a certain extent. However, when i was working 40 hours a week compared to the 30 I do now as a part time member of staff it makes sense for me to do 30 hours since the pay difference isn't by that much when I was working 40 hours a week if I'm being totally honest!?
We can be sent on training courses to increase our knowledge within the workforce for Asquith nurseries. There aren't that many opportunities other than that I have personally seen whilst working for asquiths so far.
Yes
Asquiths is great place to gain all the knowledge you need to become a good practitioner working with children in a setting. Asquiths prepare you for other positions like a room leader for example in a work force.
After the first week at asquiths you will feel more at ease it takes a while to get used to all the policies and procedures but doesn't take as long as you think it will to pick up and get used too! The staff members are friendly and are always willing to help.
