The first six months with amazon were spent in college, we then went back to site to learn amazon specific skills. The first six months give you a good background knowledge and then you enforce it when at site. You will learn new skills every day and it is always interesting.
You are constantly learning new skills at amazon, i have learned new and improved on previous skills that i already had. You learn a lot of amazon and warehouse specific skills that help you not only in amazon, but that you can take to the wider world of work in your career.
I am enjoying a lot, the scope for learning new skills is massive, and the compensation is also really good. You will meet a lot of different but likeminded people from a wide variety of backgrounds with amazon.
This is the one part where amazon lacks slightly, there is a structure in place but it is very site dependent on how strictly this is adhered to. Sometimes it feels like communication is lacking between higher ups.
Amazon is a very supporting company and will bend over backwards to help your every need, anything that ive needed they will provide. They are also very keen for you to go on courses and further your knowledge base.
The MTC are very good at what they do, being a designated apprentice training site helps them with this, they are always there to help even when you arent at the MTC.
it is vital that you complete your qualification as it provides you with a strong base knowledge to complete your day to day role =.
There is always networking event (usually on company card) and they are always supportive of you doing any courses. The MTC organize an annual football game between their Coventry and oxford sites every year, you will never be tired of things to do.
