My role as an apprentice electrician in my third year involves testing jobs, general electrical maintenance, terminating and pulling in cables and other bits as well.
I've learnt and highly developed making off SWA cable and have also increased my knowledge on pumps and general other electrical work.
I very much enjoy my apprenticeship, I get treated well, always have someone to go to if I have any questions and I'm always building my knowledge.
I'd say it's well organised, there is always tasks for me to do to develop my skills and am always allowed time for revision for college exams if needed.
I receive a lot of support from my employer as I said earlier wetter it's time during the day to revise for exams or if I've git any questions about tasks, I've got a dozen people I can go to for help
I receive alot of help, for example, I need pictures of me doing certain tasks to upload to my portfolio, so my supervisor is happy to put me on certain jobs so I can get the correct pictures I need.
It helps alot as I can learn certain things in college and then use my knowledge out on site to develop my skills
Yes, I have been asked to attend apprenticeship evenings with other apprentices across site. I have also attended the Somerset Business Awards for being a finalist in apprentice of the year and we also have a social event in the summer and Christmas for us.
