  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Amazon Engineering may not be the first thing that come to mind when looking for apprenticeships but I am glad I made the decision to join. It has provided me with a variety of different opportunities to progress within my career. The support that I have had has been amazing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The apprenticeship mostly focuses on the automation aspect of that with Amazon and it cover many different areas: - Programming and configuration of Automation equipment (PLC, Scanners and intelligent sensors) - Developing and understanding complex electrical and P&ID drawings - Communication with teams and people from all over the world to solve solutions and many more!!!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my time with Amazon and the fact that it is a good balance between independence and supervision. The people in Amazon are amazing and everyone I meet is friendly and helpful. They are always ready to share their experience and knowledge to help me develop.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • So Amazon are typically very well structured and have provided frameworks that can be used to help you develop within your time at Amazon. The bulk of the apprenticeship learning is done via the training provider. They also are quite organised and professional in what they do.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Your employer experience can range from site to site. I work at the only fulfillment center in Wales and the support I have off my managers and peers is amazing. They want you to succeed and develop yourself. All you have to do is ask.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider schedule monthly meetings and make the effort to keep in contact with you while you are on site. They ask about your progress and will help you meet targets if you are struggling. My training provider is helping me work towards a degree in controls and automation.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification provides the fundamental knowledge that is then built on and implemented within the workplace. While some of the topic may be a little outdated or non-relevant to the job role they all help build a better understanding of the concepts within Amazon.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have taking part in apprentice committee, competitions like World Skills and many more that Amazon have supported me in. Socially it depends on your local site and how they govern that. I am more than happy with what I have received.

  • Yes

  • I already have. An apprenticeship is one of the best ways to get into a job role. You get paid, you have no debt and you gain a relevant qualification while working on the job to develop your experience. I would recommend any apprenticeship within Amazon to other


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
  • Within your first couple years really listen to what you mentors and leaders are telling you it will help you a lot within your later years where you hopefully progress into more leadership style roles.
