I am training to be a fully qualified plasterer. I work on tenanted properties and I do plastering repairs in peoples homes.
I have learnt lots of skills over the last couple of years, not only physical plastering skills, but I have learnt social skills and developed my confidence. I talk to new people every day.
I really enjoy it, I am more of a hands on type of person, I really enjoy anything hands on. I also enjoy the fact I work somewhere different each day or week as I like doing different things and I like meeting different people.
It is structured well by Sandwell college and Sandwell council
We receive as much support as we require, Sandwell council have supported me with my dyslexia and studying.
Same as previous
My mentors help me learn new things every day. I also have a van permit so I can drive the vans and gain cofidence.
They host events at row at lane sometimes, I personally have never attended one though
Yes
I am learning a lot through working with them
Lots of detail in the written applications is useful. Also, don’t think because you haven’t done a trade before that you can’t do it. We all start somewhere and an apprenticeship is that perfect place to start. You will gain confidence and skills as you progress.
