  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Role when I started this programme was a Domestic Team Leader. My role was to ensure the leadership and direction of our services with the domestic work, like health & safety, responible for having a team that adhered to the functional risks of the medical centres. No service failure. I used HR sysytems for colleagues and working schedules. supplies ordering and team/ 1:1 colleague meetings. These are so of many more duties. I then was uplifted as leadind team lead and now recieved a promotion as a Estates Coordinator.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have learnt how to be a better leader. confllict resolutions, how to idenify colleague personalities like using Belbins. My time management is better. I learned more about project management and operational management. learned more about my self-awarness & emotional intelligence. I upskilled my communication & leadership confidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Enjoyed is an understatement. I loved the programme. There were some challenges that showed me what I was really capable of. Never achieved distinction levels until now. I am so happy with my confidence level and the knowledge I have recieved. I am so blessed with this oppitunity

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My first coach was a little short on training but my new coach is absolutly amazing. She supported me in everything as well as the coaches that done our workshops. Overall I am so pleased with Raise the Bar. Their timings, coaching was very well structured and high level of Organistion.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a mentor which made special time with me every two weeks and helped me develop new skills. The Apprenticeship Advisor's Chloe and Penny where super supportive and always stayed in contact throught the year and helped me with any confustion or struggles I had.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • 110%.   • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My new skills have allowed me to be more confident in risks. I have embraced feedback and worked on my flaws. I can now understand, communicate and lead colleagues, patients and customers with a knowledgable confident work ethic. More so that this programme allowed me 2 promotions in a year.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many activties we can take part in like volunteer work for charities as an example. we can make team activies outside work for team building and we have webinars we can join like peaceful mind meditations and talks.

  • Yes

  • NHSPS accepts you as a person not a number. You can learn and grow in the company and new opportunities are always reachable.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS Property Services?
  • Be a people person and relatable for customer services, have empathy as you work with vulnerable people and colleagues. Diversity as all kinds of people work in NHS and all are accepted for who they are. Be dedicated, there are many times where you are needed in a healthcare setting.
