ACCESS PLANNER (Apprentice) Perform and conduct Site Surveys. Liase with customers internally and externally. Create and issue Wayleave/Civils/Cabling and Transmission packs to contractors and inhouse engineers. Meeting required deadlines and SLA. Managing workflow and Diary slots.
I have learnt alot about the Virgin Media Network and Fibre Optics. During the programme Ignite Training Courses were provided which give your more information on the Virgin Media Network. H&S training has been provided for pit lifting which is an essential role of the job. I have had the opportunity to learn and use new systems.
I have a wonderful team who are very pleasant and helpful. The team have all taken time out to train the apprentices on the Virgin Media Network. The beauty of the programme is that you learn something new every day. The best part of the job is going out conducting Site surveys and meeting new customers.
Planner of the month is awarded to a planner who has excelled and helped others. The incentive is a £50 Voucher. I have come 2nd once and received a £25 Voucher. There is internal recognition. There are also weekly buzz calls where your manager will praise any one who has alse excelled and helped others. I had the opportunity to take part in a project for the council this helped me out a great deal and i learnt more about the job.
A mentor was assigned when first started. There were regular meetings to help us on our QCF. The team took it in turns to give sessions on Virgin Media Network that we were unsure on. Training has been sufficient the help has been provided and my team are very supportive.
My training provider is great but as there are a lot of apprentices across the UK its sometimes hard to get in touch. He will take the time to sit and go through anything your stuck with. I am happy with my training provider.
My manager is very helpful and gives guidance if unsure about anything as he used to be an Access Planner.
The salary is pretty good for an apprenticeship wage but then you need to consider the cost of living ie rent, bills etc. Upon completion we get to go on the starting wage for an Access Planner which will help towards living costs.
The company takes part in charity events which are great fun. As we have a good relationship as a team we are more than happy to meet up after work and have a social night. I attend gym regularly i like to keep fit and healthy. Before i started as an apprentice i was still working for virgin Media but at the call centre. Before that I was ar University studying Dance and Physical Theatre.
