Rotate around the business every 6 months to different teams. In each team, I have had a different role. Usually involves shadowing the manager/rest of team before starting to independently contribute and add value to projects.
Time management has definitely developed with managing my degree alongside full time work. Communication skills has developed where I’m communicating with a variety of stakeholders every day which has a varying approach. Teamwork, where I am collaborating with others. Problem solving skills
I really enjoy the degree apprenticeship programme at Visa. I feel the practical based learning is what works well for me. I can apply what I’m learning in my degree to my day to day work. Rotating around the business every 6 months is incredibly insightful and every day I learn a lot from people as well as from the work I’m doing.
I have 20% of study time dedicated to my degree which our line managers are aware of which is good when starting in each rotation that they are aware of this. Our rotations are split into 5 x 6 month rotations and then 1 x 18 month rotation at the end. There is also a regular review with me, my line manager and my university tutor to align.
We receive a lot of support from early careers team at Visa. More so when we first started the early careers team were on hand to help with all induction and help us to settle into Visa and our teams. We have frequent communication with them, and they will always check in at start, mid and end of rotations.
Though our university is delivered online we still receive a lot of support from university. I have a dedicated monthly call with my university tutor where they can help to answer any questions or any clarifications. They are also happy to support via email or arrange additional teams calls outside of this.
Doing an applied business management degree helps me to perform better at work as I can directly apply my learnings to a practical situation. It also works vice versa whereby I have used real life examples from work in my university assignments where relevant. The combination of the degree and work definitely enhances my learning and understanding of key topics.
I am part of the Visa Women In Business Committee whereby I am part of a group of around 12 people across Visa Europe who help to organise impactful events raising awareness of important topics. E.g. International Women’s Day event.

I really enjoy working for Visa, though a large organisation, it has a great workplace culture. I feel fully supported by my line manager, and am encouraged to push myself and develop skills I would like to improve on in the time I am with the team.
My biggest piece of advice that I would give to others applying to Visa is to firstly research what Visa does - we are not a card company! The key skills you need and are looking for are demonstrating good time management, communication and that you have a keen willingness to learn.
