  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the degree apprenticeship programme at Visa. I feel the practical based learning is what works well for me. I can apply what I’m learning in my degree to my day to day work. Rotating around the business every 6 months is incredibly insightful and every day I learn a lot from people as well as from the work I’m doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have 20% of study time dedicated to my degree which our line managers are aware of which is good when starting in each rotation that they are aware of this. Our rotations are split into 5 x 6 month rotations and then 1 x 18 month rotation at the end. There is also a regular review with me, my line manager and my university tutor to align.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from early careers team at Visa. More so when we first started the early careers team were on hand to help with all induction and help us to settle into Visa and our teams. We have frequent communication with them, and they will always check in at start, mid and end of rotations.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Though our university is delivered online we still receive a lot of support from university. I have a dedicated monthly call with my university tutor where they can help to answer any questions or any clarifications. They are also happy to support via email or arrange additional teams calls outside of this.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Doing an applied business management degree helps me to perform better at work as I can directly apply my learnings to a practical situation. It also works vice versa whereby I have used real life examples from work in my university assignments where relevant. The combination of the degree and work definitely enhances my learning and understanding of key topics.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am part of the Visa Women In Business Committee whereby I am part of a group of around 12 people across Visa Europe who help to organise impactful events raising awareness of important topics. E.g. International Women’s Day event.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I really enjoy working for Visa, though a large organisation, it has a great workplace culture. I feel fully supported by my line manager, and am encouraged to push myself and develop skills I would like to improve on in the time I am with the team.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
  • My biggest piece of advice that I would give to others applying to Visa is to firstly research what Visa does - we are not a card company! The key skills you need and are looking for are demonstrating good time management, communication and that you have a keen willingness to learn.
