I work as part of a training team to teach new skills & also refresher courses to existing staff and also external learners. Our courses include first aid, customer services, recruitment and selection and moving and handling
My apprenticeship has allowed me to understand the actions of both my organisation and also my line manager along with the reasons for her decisions.
I was what you might call an unwilling participant, I took on the apprenticeship as part of a service transformation within my organisation. That said, I have quite enjoyed the sessions and the support from the Ioda team has been really good.
My programme is very well structured, there are set dates for workshops, tasks that go alongside each workshop, deadlines for each task to be completed and lots of opportunities to speak with a designated coach.
I don't think I'd have been able to do it without the support from my line manager. I only work part time so my fear was that I'd fall behind but she's been so supportive, giving me time during my work hours and helping me think of examples to use.
My coach is a lovely lady, she's really knowledgeable, she will explain anything that you might not understand,. There is also always a response from the IODA team to answer any queries.
It is helping me to better understand how we function as a team in order to bring about the vision for our borough and the decisions that are made in order to best do this.
Yes I believe so but I've not attended any

I have worked for Barnsley Council since 2002. There are so many good reasons, we have flexible working, good holidays, progression and development are actively encouraged too.
I would encourage them to do their homework in terms of the vision and goals of the organisation.
