Some daily tasks may include checking applications for payment, activity schedules and producing estimates for items of work. Some internal interactions include meetings with my team through the week and also meetings with the client and contractor regarding the progress of the project.
I have learnt a wide range of new skills such as cost management and commercial skills as well as developing existing skills such as time management, maintaining good communication with my team and also my ability to work to deadlines efficiently
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as I find it easy to apply what I am doing at work to the learning I am currently working on at university. My team and especially my line manager help to support me with any struggles I may be having and put time aside to go through anything I need help with.
My programme is extremely well organised, I have meetings with someone from the university every 12 weeks to discuss my progress and any struggles I may be having with the current modules
I receive a large amount of support from my employer. As I stated earlier I get support many people within my team but especially my line manager who I have a weekly catch up call to go through what tasks I have been doing and my studies at university. I find this very beneficial as it makes me feel more comfortable asking for help if I was to get stuck on anything.
I have a lot of support from my training provider as I said earlier I have a meeting every 12 weeks to discuss my progress and any issues I may have. I feel this is important especially since all my learning is done online I like to have someone at the university I can talk to.
I feel that the learning I do at university hugely benefits my role as I am able to apply it to a real world scenario. This will depend on the project that you are working on but I have found this easy to do at Mott MacDonald
There are plenty of activities to get involved with at Mott MacDonald. These include networking events, going out after work for drinks etc, summer and Christmas parties as well as various sports and charity events which take place.
