Work in Overhead Line Capital Development team. Means we develop and plan upcoming works on the Overhead lines across the nation and prepare them before handing over to delivery. All around project management, working with a variety of stakeholders.
Lot of communicational skills, my knowledge of our transmission system is much better than when I started and the entire process from start to finish is much clearer in my mind now.
Very enjoyable, like the fact that it is up to me a lot of the time to crack on with jobs and seek opportunities. A lot of flexibility to gain the correct knowledge and experience for my apprenticeship.
Clear timetable and structure the the programme. Provides dates of university/ training whilst leaving a lot of flexibility to line managers to decide on the tasks of their apprentices.
Have all my questions and queries answered consistently. Constant information source across the organisation and a number of people I can seek to aid me in my apprenticeship.
A lot of support in regards to completing university work/ assignments alongside working. Big emphasis on passing the qualifications at Aston. Not being over-worked with both the job role and uni work.
Very relevant topics covered at my training provider which I can personally see first-hand within my job role. Skills I gain are very transferrable and will aid me in my job role consistently.
'GridHome' is an endless source of the various actives occurring within National Grid. Many opportunities to get involved with charity activates, social events and other clubs. Team I have joined are all very sociable and welcoming.
Yes
Opportunity is too good to pass up. National Grid do a great job of looking after their employees providing a broad benefits scheme. Look after their employees in all aspects of life (financially, health wise, mentally). People at National Grid are all welcoming and keen to share their knowledge. Very sociable culture.
Make sure you are all clued up on their values, current affairs and goals for the future. Aim to express your enthusiasm in the industry at an early stage and describe ho you can tie into all of these targets.
