  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I find the combination of University and real work enriching and it allows me to better grasp the theory side of my learning by being able to see it put to practice at work and being able to draw on the knowledge of my colleagues if I ever need concepts or methods explained more, or a better understanding of how some theory is applicable to my job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured by both my employer and my degree provider, they are committed to ensuring I get the required practice and knowledge I need from each aspect of my programme and frequently check in whether there are any areas where I would benefit from extra exposure and how this can be accommodated.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The level of support I receive from my employer varies depending on how much I request and what type of project I am working on, if I or they felt I needed it, it would not be a difficult task to receive increased support for my development as they have multiple schemes and programmes in place to provide support to any one at any point in their career.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Whilst working towards my degree, my training provider has at least one check up every quarter to ensure I am on track with my learning and development and they check to see if I need any extra academic support in the form of a tutor. Similarly, they have several areas within their organisation where I am able to access one off support or discuss the need for ongoing support. It is always reiterated where to go for support and that they are there to help you.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification through my training provider has provided me with key knowledge that I have been able to apply to my tasks at work already and has improved my efficiency and confidence when working independently on tasks. Similarly, I have found it has allowed me to better understand the reasoning behind some of my tasks and how they feed into a bigger process.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My experience since joining Mott MacDonald has been nothing but positive, everyone has been friendly and treated me with respect. I have never felt like I have been looked down on for being an apprentice or that people have dismissed me as they don't have the time to spend explaining something. Everyone is super approachable and happy to explain anything further, and if they can't they'll always point you in the direction of another smiling face who likely can.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
  • Make an effort. The company has a very rich and interesting history, they have worked on so many famous projects, take the time to look through some and see if any interest you, you never know you might end up working with someone who worked on it.
