My role is split between learning in an academy and picking up field experience, during academy, we will learn by various means whether that is theory in a classroom or practical in bays. On patch we are paired with a “mentor” who is supposed to support and teach you how the expectations of your role.
I have learned many new skills and have massively developed existing ones, you have a lot of time and a good environment to learn and develop.
At first I did struggle to pick up a routine and get into the dynamic, but through perseverance and support I have developed a lot and have begun to enjoy my time.
The overall structure in terms of communication and transparency of certain expectations can be improved.
I do receive a lot of support from trainers and my manager, however I do believe we are ill equipped for our role, we could be provided with more tools and equipment to make our learning easier.
We are provided with a lot of training material to support our learning.
