Day-to-day tasks involve helping the account managers in producing evidence of covers for clients, and calculating Aon's' brokerage. Daily interactions include team interactions e.g. team check ins, learning from my apprenticeship mentors at Davies and within Aon. I also often attend training and development sessions for my exams which include workshop sessions.
I have developed industry knowledge by understanding more about reinsurance, especially retrocession reinsurance as that is what I do. I have also improved my organisational and time management skills by prioritising tasks during busy periods and keeping track of documentation I have created.
I'm really enjoying the apprenticeship programme at Aon so far, it has given me a good balance with hands on experience, by exposing me to client work and learning from others within the team but also gaining qualifications which are essential to my job role.
Overall, the apprenticeship programme at Aon is well organised as there is a clear and easy to follow structure in place with regular check ins from managers and mentors.
I receive a strong level of support from my employer, due to my team always being approachable and willing to help in any way they can, whether that be through exams or client tasks.
I receive a good amount of support from my training provider when completing exams and coursework.
My qualification helps me to perform much better in my role due to it being relevant to what I do daily.
At Aon there are many networking events and sports teams you are able to join.
