  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I primarily deal with queries we get from our offshore processing team to aid in the processing of risks. This entails finding correct premiums and other information and contacting the correct underwriters and brokers to assist in doing this. I also have daily reports to complete and some of my time is dedicated towards working on different ad hoc tasks to improve efficiency in my team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained huge amounts of excel knowledge and been able to connect with many different teams such as our reporting team to learn Power BI as well as learn skills in VBA. On top of this I have been given a lot of insight into the insurance market getting exposure on the underwriting and broking sides of bounding a risk, this has been enhanced by the resources provided by Aon that has helped me pass my LM1 and LM2.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme, I think I have gained skills and knowledge in sectors that wouldn't have been available to me at university. I have also had great exposure to many different parts of Aon where everyone has been super friendly and helpful.

    9/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured. From the moment I joined I have always had a contact point for any help and have always been clear on what the next stages of my apprenticeship will be. I also had an induction week that gave me the opportunity to meet all the apprentices and some of my colleagues which was great.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a huge amount of support, from when I was onboarding to day to day advice the early careers team has been a massive help. Also the support from my colleagues when it comes to every day learning and my apprenticeship work has been great.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't feel massively supported by my training provider. Although I cannot talk much on this as I have only just begun 'Off the Job Learning' and my coursework. I do understand there are resources available to me and my coach contact which I haven't yet used to the full extent.

    6/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications that I have gained so far feel slightly irrelevant. The scope of the qualifications are so broad that it hasn't massively impacted my role. I feel as though this will change as I start to do the more difficult qualifications that are more specific.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there has been a lot of social activities. For example, I attended a volley ball tournament a couple weeks ago, a networking event that same week. My team also gets to meet every two weeks with a different broking team to network and learn more about their sector of insurance.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Aon care about your career growth as well as improving your technical knowledge. A combination of events promoted to you outside of Aon as well as Aon hosted events will keep you endlessly busy with networking and learning experiences. Hard work is also really appreciated at Aon with rewards like Aon stars where you can earn up to £250.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • Learn specific facts about Aon, this will show you have researched the company independently without being asked which is a valuable skill Aon look for in apprentices as they would like someone with initiative and a thirst for knowledge. | would also recommend practicing your face to face interview technique as this will be the make or break part of the evaluation.
