  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work in treasury where on a day to day basis I work with bank files where I have to investigate and allocate any payments that we have received that couldn't be allocated automatically. I complete journals and do reconciliations within suspense accounts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots whilst working in finance improving both my personal development and my professional knowledge of the finance and accounting world by both working at VWFS and studying AAT. This is a I gain the knowledge from studying and can then put it in practice at work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy this programme at VWFS as my team has been very supportive through my learning and I have developed so many new skills and improved my knowledge of this industry. As well as this I have been made to feel like a valued member of the team.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is well organised and structured as I have 1 day a week which is solely dedicated to studying for my AAT which puts less pressure on the studying I have to do outside of work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a lot of support from my manager who I have daily catch ups with to see if there is anything he can do to support my studying and has offered to put time aside to go through anything I am struggling with in my studies.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a lot of support from my tutor at college who has helped me work through any problems I am having with my studying which has helped a lot to relieve pressure during the exam period.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps me perform better in my role as they go hand in hand. The more I learn through my studying the more I put into practice on a day to day basis which has significantly improved my skills.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have had social events including social activities within the team and the whole of finance outside of work and Christmas parties which has helped me network with members from other teams that I wouldn't speak to on a daily basis.

  • Yes

  • I think it is a workplace that encourages and supports each other very positively which has helped me integrate into the corporate world and effectively complete my job role as I am not afraid to ask questions which has helped me be able to independently complete my responsibilities.
