I work in financial services transfer pricing. My role involves researching other companies and helping draft reports regarding the arm's length nature of inter company transactions.
Developed communication, presentation skills and everything I have learnt about accounting is from scratch. I have also learnt the correct way to email clients and write reports.
I really enjoy the job and the lifestyle however I am not a fan of the exams and the stress. Luckily they are only 3 times a year but are for 5 years. The main reason being due to them being so different to A levels.
I think Deloitte is great to work for, I always feel appreciated and the social aspect is great. All my team are really friendly and the socials with them are fab. I rarely work late and when I do it is recognised.
The gap between learning and the exams is too long as it gives time to forget what you have learnt due to being at work for the gap, other than this I like the training and introductory aspect of the programme.
Lots, Kaplan is great always there for you and fab tutors who make the hardest topics seem almost interesting and fun
I have an appraiser and exams manager who assist when need. The person in charge of brightstarts is hard to get hold of but luckily my exam manager answers most my questions direct. She was fantastic when I was sick and therefore could not sit an exam.
It meets my costs however I do not want to move to London due to the lifestyle and pollution so transport takes up nearly a third of my salary which isn't great. I also try to avoid buying lunch etc in London as its so expensive so often bring in my own lunch.
I am part of the equestrian society which is great as I meet other people with the same interests and allows me more of a work/life balance.
Yes
Its a great opportunity, you learn lots, meet great people, the work and clients are interesting but I would make sure they understand about the exams and what that entails
Be honest and research the role you are applying for. There are so many different roles its important to know what suits you best
