I’m a painter and decorator so I’m tasked with outdoor and indoor jobs and i paint what I’m told to paint whether that be woodwork like door frames or skirtings or I could be painting walls or fences, sometimes I might just prep everything ready to be painted
I have, I can’t now cut in which I couldn’t really do before, I knew how to but wasn’t the best at it, I would say every skill I had before I have improved massively
I have mixed feelings about it to be honest, sometimes I wonder if I chose the right career, I think it all depends on what job I’m working on, some I enjoy others I don’t, I do enjoy the programme though because I get to travel to new places where I’ve never been before, I work all over so I’m never just stuck in one place which I like, I go to college in block release which I like cos I breaks the work life up a bit
I would say the programme is very organised
I receive just the right amount of support, if I need help my employer is always there for me, whether I need to ask a question about something work related and there always there even if it’s not work related, there are staff members which a trained around mental health aswell so they know how to deal with certain situations which is good and I feel like more workplaces need to implement this aswell.
Not much to be honest, some of the tutors are pretty horrible and they always single me out and nobody else in the class which makes me feel belittled, they don’t really give you much help at all which is shocking, there are a few tutors though which are always there to help you when you need it and it’s the tutors I like, bagnalls also have an academy which I enjoy attending, it’s like college but a lot better, the staff have more time and patience for you than some of the tutors at college, they help you work on skills that you never thought you’d be good at, there’s a bit more support at the academy than college in my opinion
I feel like I’ve improved alot since I first started college in 2022, I’ve definitely improved on my skills this year and it’s given me a lot more confidence in my job role as I feel like I can do a lot more independently now as I know what I’m doing with I alot of tasks I get set
From what I know of no, however we did have a drop down day about health and safety and what the company can do to improve which I think is good, we all played a few games and there were prizes that could be won which is amazing and food and drinks were also provided which was nice to see as I I have never experienced anything like that in previous jobs, it just goes to show how much bagnalls actually do for their employees and how much they look after them and value them
Yes
It’s a good company to work for, they provide you with the right training and they are very good to us, I couldn’t ask for a better employer to be fair, they value every one of their employees and they’re always there to support us no matter what it is whether it’s work related our out of work related
Just be yourself in the interview if you get to that stage, make sure you know what your going to say, if they ask you a question you don’t know just be honest but show them your willing to learn if they give you a chance, and make sure that it is something your really want to do and what you think you will enjoy, if not then don’t bother applying
