I am currently in Year 1 of this pioneering 4 year degree programme. Recently, I have been selected as Student Representative to represent my year group, supporting and taking action to solve any queries on my peers behalf in contact with the EY Degree team. Work placements incorporated in the programme with EY begin in Year 2. Currently though, it is completing Part I First Year Modules in Accounting & Finance, Economics & Management Science; whilst keeping in regular contact with EY.
I have learnt new skills from university, yet qualifications have been limited so far. However, I know that our ICAS Chartered Accountant exam preparation will begin when we start in the workplace next year so this is something key to consider.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme, the workload isn't too heavy, yet still challenging and stimulating. I have made some great friends through the programme and we have a wide support network to contact in certain circumstances. It has certainly fulfilled and exceeded my expectations.
I feel extremely valued by EY even as a 1st year student and the continuous communication allows me to feel part of the team already. From all my interaction with the company date, I have gained a sense of community and teamwork throughout and I found this brilliant to be a part of.
Very well organised. They collaborate well with the university to tail our degree programme to our needs and they provide us with many contact details for reference including past students who have been extremely helpful.
Plenty of support when needed, and the tutors generally help guide you towards an appropriate solution. This is done in a relaxed and pressure-free manner which is ideal also.
I receive all the support when necessary from my employer and they regularly respond quickly to any queries I have. It is a compliment to the team that they can deal with some of my low-priority issues so efficiently.
They cover all travel costs when travelling to certain events as part of EY and when arranging events outside of university term time, they re-imburse our accommodation costs. Further, the salary package expected during the forthcoming year of my placement is more than satisfactory.
Yes, from my brief experience in the office to date, I believe there is many social sports teams and the company pursue these out of office hours. Also, it seems there is great bonds between department teams who meet up socially also.
Yes
It has been a fantastic start to a thrilling course and the company has provided the perfect guidance to start my career in accountancy. I am thoroughly enjoying myself and It has given me the confidence to work hard as a seek my goals.
Seek as much research as possible to properly ensure the different stages of the application process and where possible, contact current students on the degree to get their perspective.
