Complete VAT returns and corporation tax returns for all stores within UK and ROI. I also work within the Tax Governance team carrying out tests to ensure tax compliance within all financial teams. I am responsible for all Irish stores VAT returns as well over 150 UK/ROI stores Corporation tax returns.
I haven't learnt any new skills, just knowledge.
My apprenticeship programme has been pretty terrible through no fault of my employer, they have offered help and advice at every step but the apprenticeship provider have acted fairly poor at every hurdle. They have offered little support when I have had issues and they are more focused on me completing work for the apprenticeship than actually sitting/passing my exams.
Relatively poor, due to only 2 exam sittings per year for my course it can be difficult when issues occur. For instance my training provider never signed me up for a course that would run July-November so I instead had to enrol on a course that is meant to be sat last due to it's difficulty, I had not passed any exams yet, setting me back over 6 months. I also kept getting multi-enrolled onto course meaning that even though I was attending classes I was receiving emails threatening to inform my employer that I wasn't attending class as I was enrolled in 2 different classes. Enrolment onto the level 4 ATT course also took multiple months as at first they enrolled me onto level 4 AAT and when I informed them of the mistake they enrolled me onto level 7 ATT/CTA.
Great support from my employer, always offered help when I was having struggles with my provider. They also offered plenty of study time and extra help from staff members who had completed the course before.
Very little, most of the tutors who taught the lessons were great and really helpful however you rarely deal with them, you deal with a "Talent Coach". I have had 3 different talent coach's since starting the apprenticeship. The first failed to enrol me onto courses and never seemed too bothered about me actually sitting exams, the second offered little to no support when my mother suffered a heart attack.
I think the knowledge that I have gained through the lessons and self taught sessions using the material have massively contributed to increasing my tax knowledge. However, a large part of the syllabus focuses on personal tax and accounting, things I do not do within my role.
There are plenty, such as football teams, running clubs at lunch, quarterly socials etc.
Yes
I think the company itself can be great at times, you always feel at home and everyone is very welcoming.
