As a Technical Document Apprentice my role mainly involves a mixture of; Technical Administration, Data Analysis, Requirements Management. In a day to day role I mainly deal with assisting employees with making updates to the technical documentation they own. I also send out daily or weekly measures which outline how many items are open within a particularity document, so that users can identify which items may be overdue.
During my apprenticeship I have updated my technical engineering knowledge, as well as my ability to review & analyse data. I have also improved my communication skills for the way I provide or present information. I have also improved my project management skills & I now work on various engine projects that all have different requirements or time frames.
I have found that the course I am doing goes hand in hand with the work I complete on the job. This have been especially helpful learning about different techniques relating to requirements & stakeholder management as this take up a big part of my role.
I have found the my apprenticeship has been very well structured. As from day one of the course I have been informed of the various topics/ task I would be learning about. As well as how these all link together within the work place & wider business environment.
On a daily basis I receive whatever support I require to complete a particular task or job. For more personnel training I have meetings with my manager every two weeks to discus my current workload as well as any support I may requires. I complete regular training assigned by either HR or the corporate side of the business.
When completing work on my course. I have regular catch ups with my course tutor every month. In these meetings we discuss my current workload, as well as any work I need to complete & the deadline have to adhere to. I also had lectures to provide the theory training side of the course.
The course I am completing is a Level 4 in Business analysis. This has provided me with various skills that i have been able to use in the workplace, e.g. requirements management, data modeling, stakeholder management, risk analysis. I have also improved the way I prioritise work, as I am now better bale to mange multiple jobs at once with varying deadlines.
Every quarter I take part in a team building event with either my immediate team or wider department. This helps to improve staff morale, and allows me to get to know colleagues that I don't work with that often.
